Yeah. Way back when the Metaphyiscal Elders was still working I was invited to join. I figured I'd have an alter ego and that I could even argue against myself in the comments. (i.e. have the Semiotician and Clark Goble get in a heated argument) The plan was for the Semiotician to be one of those classic 19th century pompus professors, loosely modeled after C. S. Peirce, but minus the skirt chasing and drug addictions. It didn't really come off the way I had intended. First off I made him too abstract and I think people didn't get what he was saying. Secondly I think the people there may have been a bit bemused at what to me was the joke of the whole thing. In hindsight I shouldn't have done it. But it was one of those things I've wanted to do for years.
Way back when I used to belong to a lot of mailing lists and they were "cutting edge" I'd wanted to subscribe under a hidden email address and pretend to be a liberal and then fight with myself. Never had the guts to do it though.
